GameCenter not loading?

I try to open GameCenter, and my iPod sits there for about 10 minutes before it finishes loading. When I switched to a new tab in GameCenter, the grossly long loading process starts again. My Internet connection is fine; I can load Safari and Email very quickly, and play online for my games.

The only game I can't get to is DragonVale, and that's because it has to login to GameCenter first. I haven't let it sit there for the needed 10 minutes, so I think it would work if I let it sit, but that's not the real issue here. The real issue is why is this happening and what can I do to fix it.

I have tried rebooting the iPod- several times - with no changes. Should I reset my Wi-Fi modem?
