Does this software run a check on it's own? How can you check to see if it was done?

As baltwo noted, we have no idea what software you are talking about. If you have run everything that Software Update offered you, then you have done everything you need to do for now. If you want to know what you have installed, open System Preferences->Software Updates->Installed tab and it will list what was installed when.

Hi baltwo,

This dumb ASC format doesn't make it easy to divine the intent of the OP. What happens is that someone does a Google search, or whatever, and winds up on the KB page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5246

At the bottom of it he sees this

User uploaded file

in which he types this question that quite understandably leads here.

Naturally, none of that is obvious to us. So all we can do is take the hint from the prefix to the question (HT5246) and the link to it above the question:

User uploaded file

to conclude he's asking about the Flashback removal tool.

It's an OK system for new users with questions, less so for people wanting to help them. That and trying to decipher sometimes egregiously misspelled words and cringeworthy grammar adds to all the fun, wouldn't you say?

I'm sorry, but, as you noted, until the dumb software is fixed to make the link to knowledge base articles clickable, I've no desire to chase around to see what directed the person to ASC. I find it maddening, since most users just click submit to the community whether or not their issue pertains. Anyway, thanks for pointing out that the issue deals with the overhyped malware issue. For the OP, welcome aboard and thanks for clarifying.
