Unknown Mac App Store Update

This morning I start up the Mac App Store and see there are 2 updates available. One for an application I know I have, the other for an application I do not have installed on my system. Clicking "Update All" spins and does nothing. It looks to be attempting to download the update for the application I do have.

When I manually click on the application I do not, to see what is going on a App Store login comes up with the email address "***". I have seen another post saying this is due to installing non authorized Mac App Store applications but I have never done that. In fact I tend to be very careful about what I do install so I'm not sure whats going on.

It has this update for this application, not installed, never was and will not either go away or process the real update. I have restarted, cleared out the cache.

OS X 10.7.3

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1

Update: The other application was "Skitch" which I do use. I uninstalled Skitch, and restarted my Mac. The other application no longer shows up. As I never really was using Skitch anymore I'm going to choose not to reinstall it now that hings appear to be ok.

The update for the "Nyan Cat" cat has come back, it is not and never has been on my system. When I do try to update it brings up an email address that is not mine.

Anyone have any ideas on how I get rid of this?

Remove any pirated apps that you have on your Mac. The only way a stanger's Apple ID can appear on your Mac regarding an app update, is by way of a pirated app.

As I already stated, in my first post, I do not have any Mac App Store pirated applications on my computer. I have purchased all applications I have. There has to be another way and I am the only person who uses this computer.

Well this is going in circles. I've already posted serveral times so please re-check those. I'm not a pirate and do not appreciate your insistance that I am. So unless you have something useful to add please move along.

Whether by intention or because you thought that you were getting a free version or a trial version of an app, you have a pirated app on your Mac that has been cracked with the Mac App Store receipt from this stranger's Apple ID.

Do a search for pirated apps in theis forum in the ASC and see how many other folks were as adamant as you that they did not have a pirated app, but they found out that they did.

I used the application to search my drive for _MASReceipt and they all match every application that I have on my machine. There was no odd application out of the list which was not installed so however it has happened it is not by that route.

Recently installed applications:

Via App Store:

Radiant Defence (free game)

Disk Art (free program)

DoodleGeddon (free game)

Via 3rd party:

The Walking Dead (via telltalegames.com)

Diablo 3 Public Beta (via Battle.net)

Given that those are the only applications I've installed in recent memory how could any of those be mistakenly a pirated application? I'm just to the point I want to find whatever the heck is doing this and get rid of it.

If it helps the application it's trying to install update is (sadly enough)

Nyan Cat: Lost in space

I uninstalled, just to see (despite the fact they were free and app store installed) radiant, disk art and doodle but this has not solved the problem.

Is there a way to search for whatever application has this email address in it? I've been uninstalling app after app (all of which mac app store downloaded) and nothings dong it. Searching for the recpeit files all cororponded to the applications I got directly from the store.

This is not going to be an app that you got from the Mac App Store, those apps are secure and not pirated. This will be an app that you installed on your Mac from another source. This is an app that is sold in the Mac App Store, but you have downloaded it for free from somewhere else.

How do I go about finding which application is causing this problem? I did the seach for the reciept files but they all match up to legit applications. The only other application I installed recently was a virus scanner and I have removed it as well, but this "Nya Cat" update persists.

There is an app, either on your Mac or an attached drive or partition with an app with the receipt from Nya Cat used to crack it. Somehow you have missed it when searching with FindAnyFile.

This is serioustly driving me crazy. Tempted to just pay for support to get this one cleaned up somehow. I've scanned the drive, my time machine and superduper backup. Everything still jives. There are 23 reciepts and all of which jive 100% to my purchases from the Mac App Store.

I believe you something is hiding somewhere, but I would like that Find file program would have located it.
