iWork '09's template chooser shows black text on a black background. Not very useful, how to change?

Hi -

For some time now, the template chooser that I see in any iWork application shows the name of the file as black text on a black background.

This can't be normal, right?

I'm looking for a way to change this into something with more contrast (black on grey/black on white, for example).

How?

I tried trashing preferences from my user account, the issue persisted.

I'm about to try under a new user and I'll report back.

Good that you try things out. If it doesn't help you might need to reinstall iWork and do the updates again.

Use Yvan's script to uninstall iWork fully.

• Go to http://www.box.com/s/00qnssoyeq2xvc22ra4k

• Choose public_YK > for_iWork'09 > other_iWork'09 items

• Click on uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button

Ran the script, installed fresh from DVD, issue still there…

You have a major problem on your machine. Use the free Onyx from http://www.titanium.free.fr/ and do some maintenance. If it says you need to repair the start disk do so.

That's interesting - What makes you think there's a major problem? And what sort?

I now have Onyx installed - where should I begin with maintenance?

Serious questions, all help appreciated…

Edd,

The Automation tool in OnyX gives a good default set of repair and test actions. I wouldn't advise that you check every box on the page, at least not the first time you use it, just use the defaults.

Check SMART status, verify start disc, check plist files, repair permissions etc.

That's funny becuase I thought it was a preferences, or possibly a corrupted fonts issue.

Surely even a failing HDD, cloned and swapped from a new one (or restored from backup) would show the same problem?

So far I ran the defualt Automation script and the issue is still there.

The next thing to try is a safe boot…

So after:

1. Safe Boot

2. PRAM Reset

3. fsck

4. AppleJack on auto

5. Repairing permissions

The issue is still there.

I'm tending now towards prefernces/font issues.

Who else has an new idea?

Have you done something else like fiddle with anything inside the Pages packet or installed a recent 3rd party system utility?

Changed anything in System Preferences such as Appearance or Universal Access?

This is quite unusual.

Well I must of done… but I can't think what!

I've had this issue for around a year, at least - when I upgraded from a UniBody MacBook to a UniBody MacBook Pro 2 months back, the problem came with it…

Checking Universal access and Appearance now…
