how do I download a bbc radio podcast on to my ipod

Sometimes you can do that by touching and holding the item in Safari and you should get a popup of where to download it. It will not go into your podcast library. To get items in your podcast library you have to downnload it through the iTunes store.

If when you touch the podcast you do not get an download option that that site does not support the iPod downloading it.

If the podcast is avaialbe in iTunes, why not just use that.

Some of this may depend on which country you are in. The BBC has different rules for the UK or non-UK, some things available to non-UK residents are not available to me, here in the UK.

If you are in the UK, you can search for BBC Podcasts in the iTunes Store (you do not need a Store account for Podcasts). In your iTunes, go to the iTunes Store/Podcast section and search for BBC. There are a lot. If you see the one you want, simply click on Subscribe (to that Podcast).

You can go to the BBC website in your browser and find the programme that you are interested in, but frankly, it's a long-winded process. It's quicker to search for the progamme in the Store. To subscribe to the programme Broadcasting House, I took the following steps:

• in the iTunes Store, search for Brodcasting House
• in the results that appear, I can see Broadcasting House, listed under Podcasts
• Select the Subscribe button next to the name
• You will be asked "Are you sure"
• Once answered, the latest epsiode will begin downloading and future epsiodes will be downloaded automatically (subject to a couple of minor points, but more of that only if you have problems).

On this page; http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/help is a guide from the BBC to Podcasting. In particular, notice in the FAQs a question "why are some Podcasts only available in the UK?"

Connect the iPod to iTunes. Look on the Device/Podcasts pane and check the aat you have iTunes configured to Sync your Podcast.
