How do you import audio files into Garage Band App for iPhone or iPad?

Emailed audio files, I would like to be able to import these into my iPhone Garage Band App ... Can this be done?

When using the iPhone to pick up emailed audio files via mail the only option I get is import to 'iMovie' no Garage Band ... why is this? Is it something to do with the fact the file is MP3 and not AIFF ... should the sender convert or bounce down to AIFF before sending to me?
