Q: Need help regarding my Macbook's RAM please!

Hello and thank you in advance,

I would like to know the maximum RAM my Macbook is compatible with. My Macbook has the following specs:

Macbook 13-inch, Mid 2010

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

According to the Apple support page (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1651#link1) my Macbook model is compatible with a maximum memory of 4GB and includes 2 memory slots.

Does this mean I can have a maximum of 4GB memory in total with (2 X 2GB) RAM Chips

                              OR

Does this mean I can have 8GB total with (2 X 4GB) RAM chips?

THANKS!

P.SS: Please only answer is you are 100% sure as I will be spending money to buy the RAM chip.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I have the same Macbook. It means that you can have 2 X 2GB RAM chips in your computer, making a total of 4 GB.

However, not speaking from personal experience, I have heard of people who have had success with installing 8 GB in it, but I can't verify that for you. It's up to you whether you want to gamble with your money or not buying 8 GB. Check the manufacturer's return policy before you do.

The simplest way is to download the free database called Mactracker, identify your model, and you will see the official and unofficial practical upper limit. our mid-2010 model support up to 8 GB, even if Apple say 4 GB only.
