May 1, 2012 4:35 AM in response to ftownleaderby Barry Hemphill,Hello:
Try a couple of things (in order, quit if one fixes the problem).
Reset the PRAM and SMC
Delete the KB from the system, restart, and then see if it pairs.
Trash a preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restart.

May 3, 2012 6:41 PM in response to Barry Hemphillby ftownleader,Hi Barry, thanks for the tips, but I tried everything you listed above and same outcome...keyboard doesnt pair. Any other ideas? For what its worth the keyboard was paired fine with my brothers macbook and I have the apple bluetooth mouse paired with my macbook pro and it works great

May 3, 2012 7:34 PM in response to ftownleaderby Barry Hemphill,Hello:
You indicated the KB was paired with your brother's computer. Bluetooth devices may only be connected with one thing at a time. I have never had the problem, but it should have been unpaired/deleted from the other computer.

May 4, 2012 2:27 AM in response to ftownleaderby Barry Hemphill,Hello:
This is an area that I have not had first hand experience and/or problems, so I am fishing a bit. This is some general stuff that might help...

Unfortunately, I have no "brilliant" thoughts.
If you are near an Apple store, you could take it in to have them test it.

May 8, 2012 3:05 AM in response to ftownleaderby jrobert123,With 10.7.3, there are two ways to pair a keyboard :
1/ Keyboard Menu
2/ Bluetooth Menu
Did you try both ? Does it work with the 2nd one ?

Sep 4, 2013 4:04 PM in response to ftownleaderby tberrrr,Here's how I solved the same problem described. Believe it or not, you must enter a paircode/passcode on the keyboard so the connection will be allowed. Here's how:
1) Put your mouse on the Bluetooth menu bar (top of my AirBook),
2) Right click to bring up the Bluetooth menu,
3) Move down to "Set Up Bluetooth Device...",
4) A wizard will pop up and the keyboard should be listed,
5) Select the wireless keyboard,
6) Your Mac should then display a passcode that you should type in -(mine was seven digits, not the normal "0000" used for Bluetooth devices such as a hands free headset). DO THIS USING the wireless keyboard that you're trying to connect (NOT your iPad or Mac),
7) Press enter.
This procedure should work, and I don't know why this paircode step does not appear when trying to pair the keyboard using the Keyboard section of System Preferences.......
Hope this helps,
Tim

Sep 5, 2013 12:18 AM in response to tberrrrby ahmedtariq,Well DUH ... The pin code does show, however whatever I enter on the wireless keyboard.. it seems either all keys or the return key is not working, cuz no matter what i type on the wireless keyboard, it still says cannot pair after 20 30 seconds or so....

Sep 10, 2013 9:09 PM in response to ahmedtariqby kvseel,I just successfully paired my A1255 with my computer.
I couldn't get it to pair with the passcode (passcode options, in the setup bluetooth device menu) set to '0000' or auto-generated (auto-generated made an 8 digit code).
I remembered that I had to use a 4 digit code with my iPhone in my car, so I figured maybe it was a device limitation, and that the zero's messed it up too.
I changed passcode to 1234 in the bluetooth settings.. and then I was able to enter the code on the keyboard and it paired. Good luck!

Jun 16, 2014 4:24 AM in response to ftownleaderby Rob Stevenson,In case someone else has this problem...
This morning, after replacing the batteries in my Bluetooth keyboard, it would not reconnect to my iMac. I tried all the usual things, restarting, etc, but still no go. It was listed in the Bluetooth menu but I'd get an error message when I tried to connect it.
Then I recalled that a couple of months ago I'd connected it to my iPad Mini just to see how it worked. So I opened up the Mini and had a look at the Bluetooth Settings. Sure enough, the keyboard was now connected to my Mini. I told the Mini to forget the keyboard, and when I closed the iPad and glanced at the keyboard it was blinking the green light. After a bit of that it settled down and it was reconnected to the iMac. Yay!
Convenience features like auto-reconnect can sometimes be inconvenient.
