Currently have toast 10, runnning on my old MacBook Pro, it works fine but do not want to use it on my new MacBook pro, Running the lastest operating system. Is there another more stable program to convert AVI files to MP4?

Now lots of mac video conversion software can do that task, like Handbrake, 100% free, you could have a try. Btw, in order to get highest output quality, this avi to mp4 converter mac software is also a good choice.
Is this still a good choice? I am very paranoid, I am always afraid of corrupting my MacBook Pro.
If you are ever worried about doing something with a computer it means you do not maintain good backups. If I am uncertain I back up, then try, knowing I can restore should something go wrong.
From reading it seems newer version of Handbrake can also convert avi.
A very good suggestion. Can you tell me how an what to backup? I use Safari,iMovie,iPhoto and GarageBand. Is there anything under the Apple icon that I should also backup>
