Q: iTunes64Setup.exe

I have downloaded the 64 bit version of iTunes for my new Windows 7 64 bit machine.      Every time I run the installer I get "This installer is for a 32 bit machine" even though I AM running iTunes64Setup.exe.  Has anyone else seen this?

Doublechecking ... by any chance did you migrate a 32-bit version of the iTunes program to the new laptop from a 32-bit machine using the PC Mover utility?

(Your symptoms are consistent with that ... the installer service throws the message when trying to uninstall the 32-bit itunes and related 32-bit componentry prior to installing the new 64-bit versions.)

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

You are quite right, I did use PC Mover.  However I had unchecked iTunes so that it would not move it.   Unfortunately I had no idea that Bonjour was part of iTunes.   I got hold of Apple support and and they got me to uninstall ALL componants.   I was then able to install iTunes successfully.

Excellent news. Many thanks for reporting back with your resolution, too .... many useful things to know there.

There's actually three programs (in terms of this issue) that can cause grief ... iTunes, Bonjour and Apple Mobile Device Support (since each of them has a 64-bit/32-bit variation).

It's extremely good to know that it's possible to get past this nowadays by just uninstalling and reinstalling the three programs ... it used to be the case that the 32-bit error would be thrown when just trying to uninstall the 32-bit versions from the 64-bit system. (The only straightforward way to get past it was reverting the entire migration in PC Mover.)
