viking embroidery machine
I have a Husqvarna Viking embroidery/ sewing machine. Does anyone know of a way I can use the software on my Macbook Pro? I've read that the software (which is made for a PC) can be converted but I have no idea how.

Probably the only ways you can get the software to run on your MBP is to either install Windows with BootCamp of possibly use a Windows emulator such as Parallels.

You can't "convert" software. It doesn't work that way. The manufacturer could, hypothetically, go back to their own source code and spend hours, days, weeks, and probably longer tweaking it to make it Mac OS X-friendly, then re-compile it for Mac OS X. However, this doesn't actually do *you* any good.
Your best option is probably to dual-boot your Mac with a known-compatible version of Windows. You could try going down the "virtualization" road (Parallels, VMware, etc.) but sometimes virtual machines have problems communicating with attached hardware. Actually setting up your Mac (via BootCamp) to run Windows natively would work.
The other issue is what kind of interface does this embroidery machine use? If it connects via USB, you should be home free. However, if it uses a serial port (or even a parallel port) you will need to get a serial (or parallel) to USB adapter. Also bear in mind that sometimes the software for these highly specialized devices is not compatible with these adapters. It's honestly a hit-or-miss proposition. What I would suggest is contacting Husqvarna directly to find out what their own experiences have been.
Good luck!
I've read that there is a software program that will allow it to run, I just won't be able to utilize all the components that I could use on a PC. Thanks for the help!
