I just replaced my old iPod shuffle with a brand new iPod Shuffle. When I try to sync with iTunes it says I need to upgrade to iTunes 10.0 or later but when I try to upgrade iTunes it tells me I need Mac OS X 10.5 or later. I just want my iPod to work... Any ideas?

I take it you are using a iMac at the moment? have you tried checking for software updates on your iMac First? Then update iTunes...
Using a Mac book I bought about 5 years ago. I ran the software update and it said there weren't any updates available...
Hmm, what version of iTunes are you currnetly running at the moment? The latest version should be 10.5, i'll have a little look around on the internet for you today..
What OS X is your mac running? whether this has an affect.. Mac OS X version 10.5.8 is the operating system needed to run iTunes 10.6.

Have you tried force quiting iTunes from your desktop? Then updating iTunes?
