Could be many things, we should start with this...

"Try Disk Utility

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.

3. Click the First Aid tab.

4. Select your Mac OS X volume.

5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Hi have exactly same issue.

Trying to delete thousands of double entries that MobileMe has created. They are now in iCal (MobileMe totally disconnected). I select them, I delete them, they disappear for a few seconds and then they show up again.

Have rebooted, repaired disk permissions, rebooted in safe mode, repaired disk permissions again....all to no avail....

Who can help please?

I cal totally crippled in speed by all these entries...

Hi BDAqua, I just realize that all these "self-returning" events are "recurring events". For example I iriginally had entered a Birthday with yealy occurence in 2008. Then it multiplied itself several hundred times in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, etc. When I delete all of them, (selecting them all at once, then "delete" in the menu, they never disappear. Was also looking for a trashbin to empty, but there is none...? And the Desktop trashbin is always empty, too.

Looks like the files that store that are...

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/iCalExternalSync.plist

So, if you think you want to start over, quit iCal & trash those files.

Oh, are you choosing Delete, or delete all occurrences of this event?

Ah, you posted in the Leopard 10.5.x forum!

Apple likes to confuse everybody by changing things with every iteration of OSX! 😟

Forget Spotlight for finding thingsunless you have a 3 sided coin & the wind is blowing from the WSW at exactly 3.178759 MPH

Find Any File...

I'd get EasyFind...

Hi, thanks. just tried again

1. restarted Mac

2. ran FindAnyFile and deleted the two files

3. started iCal

The recurring entries are still there (and they seem to multiply further, e.g. for one in one day I have 5,483 duplicates).

If I now try to select one, it "colors" as selected, but the moment I move the cursor away, the selection goes also. So cannot even select anymore, and thus delete.

Will now try to restore that calendar and restart from your last recommendation.
