Error 4880 as well :|

Sorry I wasn't sure if I should post in the other one since it was someone else's problem...

For some reason I keep getting the "error 4880" when I try to burn an audio cd with iTunes. First song kind of starts and then cancels.
I read the other threads and nothing works for me.
I changed the burning speed and it still malfunctioned. The weird thing is that it has worked before... It just isn't at the moment. I tried like 8 cds and nada.
Well anyway, I have my diagnostics:

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

Current user is administrator.

This is exact same problem I'm having (I posted under the other thread as well). It was working fine about 2 or 3 weeks ago, when I last burned a CD and now cancels right after it starts writing the first song. I've wasted at least 15 CDs. I tried the suggestion on the other thread and that didn't work. The problem started when I was still using the old version so then I updated to the newest version and it's still happening. I have a Dell as well and in reading other posts, it seems to be happening with Dells for some reason. If you are able to fix the problem, please post on here. I have emailed Apple and am waiting for a response. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

eswhydeeee,

Let's start with the support page for your computer. Go there and click the "Show All" link.

Download and install the driver updates labeled "Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility", and "Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller".

There is new firmware for that drive, so I'm not sure why Dell isn't serving it up for you. If you go to this 3rd party site (and it's a reputable one), I'm not sending you to virus central, you'll see that there's an R603 firmware revision for Dell OEM. You're running version R602.

Why don't you try that and come back it that doesn't work.

try this...
This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes.
