Hey Guys, I'm interested in Purchasing a Mac for my Graphic Design. Now, I am a Student and I have limited funds to buy a computer so I don't have much money to spend. I don't know whether I should buy a Mac Mini with an i7 and upgrade the RAM later and display it on my 32inch TV aswell as the buying the magic mouse and the keyboard with the Mac mini. This is considerably good for the price and It seems like a nice little machine. However, I am thinking a Macbook would be better because it's more powerful? (I think )

My only concern is the Mac Mini not being albe to handle CS5 or the new CS6 and cinema 4D.

What are you opinions?

With the MBP you're paying for portability, whicih if you need it, is a good system. Did you price an iMac? When I was looking last year, a mini with upgraded graphics, keyboard, mouse, and monitor (which you have already) was not far off from an iMac, which is a more powerful system than a mini.

You probably know as a student you get an educational discount.

The Mac Mini is just as powerful as the MacBook Pro. I use my Mac Mini to run PhotoShop CS5 Extended all the time. However, if you need to move it around, you should get a MacBook Pro.

If you are really in the business of making a Mac Mini faster than the iMac and closer to the Mac Pro, then buy the Mac Mini, max it out with upgrades and then buy a Magma ExpressBox 3T so you will have access to PCIe slots on the Mac Mini. Then drop an apple flashed HD Radeon 5870 in it and it should be fast. Maybe even close to the Mac Pro. Hope this helps.
