App Expose doesn’t show recent items
Nor does dock right-click menu. "Open recent” menu works. I know this is isolated to my account because in others' it works.

Look in Preferences -> General -> Numbers of recent items
10 is the default for Application, Documents, Server
You're underestimating me a little here. I've checked every single relevant piece of setting and found nothing. I suspect there's something wrong with a preference fie, a corrupted .plist somewhere. I just don't know which.
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
stores recent items related to menu, but every applications has its own recent item list
OK. I found it.
I take as example Preview
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist
every preference file that has LSSharedFileList inside the name.
the LSSharedFileList leads us to another dilemma. Earlier the App Expose was showing, but wasn't updating, recent items list (both in cover flow and right click menu at dock). So courtesy of another forum post, I deleted all the .LSSharedFileList.plist files, thinking they would just regenerate back. Well they haven't.
Any help?
On my computer removing com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist does not prevent Preview to recreate it.
If you suspect there are some corrupted preferences files you can check that with
plutil -lint ~/Library/Preferences/*.plist
plutil -lint ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
Forget it, it was just some permission glitch with the library folder. Thanks anyway Al.
