Hi All
I have just bought a wifi dongle for my old MacOs 10.4.11 iMac g4 (the lamp shaped one) . The dongle works fine and sees the wifi network but the Mac refueses to connect to internet.
It sees the dongle as an ethernet port not as airport. Can anyone give me any help in convincing it to connect via wifi?

Hi Max,
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

Thanks a lot for your suggestions but nothing changed. when I try with network diagnosis app the airport it seems not supported as a tool of internet connection.
I really did not understand why the wifi dongle it is not recognised as the airport card..

No, it'll show up as an Ethernet device, but will still be wireless.
Do you have a USB Wifi Utility included with it?

well there is only an app to manege the dongle that was in the installing CD. I use it to fond the networks and connecting to them.

And that sees the dongle % the networks?
Did you ever enter those DNS numbers in Network pref pane for that new interface?

Yes I did but without havinh the connectuion.

Max, when you Show that Interface in Network Pref Pane, does it show like this but instead of Airport the en2 or what ever it is the USB dongle is?
