Thanks for the reply.
Failing means the Apple ID(wich is correct, going with the right password and the only one I have) is not recognised. I use the link shown after clicking 'publish' in iBooks author(latest 1.1(190))

Account active for many years.
No errors on screen except: ID is not valid
Since your book account has been active for so long, this seems like either a transient issue on the backend that is out of your control and/or a new issue with your account that may require Apple intervention.
Have you used Manage your Apple ID yet?

Just to be sure:
You write 'book account' is that something different from 'apple id'?
iTunes Connect is asking for nothing else but 'apple id'.
This is my first ibook ever...but my apple id is up and running for ~ 15 years.
When you created your iBook account...did you create a new user ID? You did apply for a book account, right? You can't just login to iTunes Connect with a normal iTunes user ID/account.
How long ago did you create your iBook account?
Did you apply for an account to upload 'free' books or an account to sell 'paid' books?
Going to the Login page give same results as above

If it won't let you finish, you can wait for the issue to clear on Apple's side (if that is the cause) or use the contact link at the bottom of that page.
I have been getting the same message for 2 days. All this time spent on authoring an iBook! Very frustrating!!

Can you post if the new account works for you? I have tried with a brand new itunes acoount and still keep getting the same cannot process request error. I think the issue is with itunes connect.

I am getting the same error message. I try and create a free account in iTunes Connect and it tells me that an error occurred and to please try again or send an email. Of course, it does not provide an email address. Seems strangely inefficient and un-Apple-y. Creating an account should not be such a tough thing. Judging from the problems that others are having, there doesn't seem to be any good (or fast) solutions.
