Do it Yourself Display Repair

I have had displays go dim and found that most of the time it is the inverter board. However, if you need to replace the bulbs, it can be quite tedious. I was able to get the bottom set out of 20" CD, but the top seemed to be "Melted" into place.
Is there any technique to removing these? Apple's take apart manuel shows everything but the removal of these bulbs. (Guess even their techs don't even want to bother with this either) Also, does anybody know who made these models for Apple?
