Hi I Have late 2006 iMac 24'' and I can't boot from external FireWire drive. If I connect the same external drive via usb2 I can boot from it but it is slower than FireWire800 would be. Can you please tell me if this is possible at all? more

Apr 30, 2012 12:55 PM in response to janeksby RRFS,Have you tried System Preferences/Startup Disk selection? If you see the Firewire Disk and it is a System Disk you should be able to select it and restart from it.

Apr 30, 2012 1:12 PM in response to janeksby Paul_31,Some drives will only boot via USB. I have a Western Digital which is Firewire and USB - only USB will allow it to work as a boot volume.
