MY G4 UPON HOLDING OPTION KEY DOWN AT START UP GIVES A PICTURE OF MAC HD WITH AN X THRU IT WON'T BOOPT UP??

Is there background to this? Why are you even holding down the option key?
You've posted in the Mac Pro forum, which whether you have a G4 PowerMac or a G4 iMac is the wrong forum. If you'll tell us what Mac model you really have, we can direct you to the forum where you'll be most likely to get help with your issue.
