iPod doesn't work with skype?

Kay, so, I have an iPod 2nd generation and deleted my skype app from it. I tried reinstalling and it didn't allow me, saying I need iOS 4.3. I updated my ipod to iOS 4.2 and it says it's up to date, but it's not. Is there something I can do to get skype back?

I'm aware that 2nd generation doesn't install further than iOS 4.2 and I've been trying to just recover the old app.. but no luck. I need help 😟 Please.
