outlook 11 keeps freezing when typing, running latest operating system, have both note book and brand-new desktop, its driving me crazy and one else having issues running windows for mac ?? help !!

Microsoft Office for Mac uses massive amounts of RAM/memory. With Microsoft applications its best to save your memory for using it, close all unneccessary applications, including one's that run up in the taskbar. If you're getting really desperate, you can switch to Mail, but as a user of Outlook '11 for Mac myself, Outlook is a more powerful application so try your best to keep it running.

+Do you have several mailboxes? Maybe put your personal mail in Mail instead of Outlook.

Microsoft released a new freshly updated (14.2.1) a few days ago, after withdrawing the previous update that caused many troubles to a lots of users. Maybe that could solve your problem too.

Hi I am also hitting this issue all the time I am up to release 14.2.3 and I still have the problem.

Random typing just starts spinning. Were you ever able to fix the problem. I wonder if this has anything to do with automatic spell checker. I may try disabling it.

I have this problem too. But it is strange. I have a 2009 MBP which runs fine (all software is latest). I just bought a rMBP and Outlook is just a mess. It freezes all the time and I have to force quit. I cannot right click on any of the menus or it freezes. Grrr. It is very annoying.

Anyone with any ideas? Please help!!!

I am having the same problem in Outlook 2011. Type 5 words in an email and i get the spinning wheel. Wait until the cursor comes back. Type 5 more words. Repeat the cycel. It's driving me crazy. I am using a MBP 6.2 (2010) and I thought it might be RAM issue as Outlook and Skype (which I keep running) take huge amounts of RAM. I upgraded to 8GB of RAM and I still have the same problem in Outlook.

I just switched to Mail and iCal because I can't take it, but that causes issues with syncing across devices (android, not iOS).

Anyone know any resolution to this problem? It seems to have started about a month ago which may have been related to a MSFT update, but I don't recall.

I just started having the same exact issue after using Outlook '11 for Mac for about a month. I have a MBP June 2012 model. Type 5 words, spinning wheel pops up, wait a few seconds, type 5 more words, etc etc. Please help!

Same issue! Can't type more than a few words before outlook freezes repeatedly as I try to type. I'm almost annoyed enough that I may give Mail another shot... but I remember Mail being a lot more annoying to use overall.

Inbox was already pretty clean but had neglected my deleted folders and sent folders. Cleared out sent items and then the deleted items folder and 'Hey Presto!' all good again. 😀

I had exactly the same problem. Try to Archive your sent mail folder and especially the folders which are big in size, also empty the deleted items folder. It worked for me and the freezing stopped instantly.

Guys,

1 - It is not about the size of inbox or sent or deleted boxes.

2 - It is not about ram, because i run many oher programs at the same time with no problem and also outlook. The only problem is outlook does something every 10 sec that freezes it. If it was ram, all the other programs should have been slowed too, but everything else works. So it's not computer. It is Outlook.

3 - It is not about scheduled tasks. There is no scheduled tasks and no add-ins in the background, but still I have the same problem.

4 - The strange thing is I don't have the problem all the time. Instead only sometimes. It is like a damned soul, comes from time to time and does its deadly freeze magic every 10 sec or so.

So it is;

not computer,

not RAM,

not add-ins,

not scheduled tasks.

I am about to get crazy and I don;t wanna change my lovely mac to a **** PC just because of this problem but I've gotta work you know.

So could please somebody from Apple or Micosoft help us???
