Keynote theme overlay help

Is there a way that when you insert a picture you can make it so that the theme overlays the picture? I have a template with a curved edge, and want to fit my picture under the curve so that it doesn't look like a square pic in the middle of a curved template.... any ideas?? The "send backward" or "bring forward" tool doesn't seem to be helping.

One way to do this is to take a sceenshot of your template (CMD-SHIFT-4 > move the cross hairs to select the entire slide area and release)

Open the screenshot in Preview then use the Instant Alpha Tool (located in the pull-down of the Select Tool on the Toolbar in Preview) to remove unwanted parts (hit delete to remove selected areas)

Save the image of the template as a .PNG with Alpha.

Place the image as an overlay over your original slide and place your photo/image sandwiched between the background and the hollowed out image of the background. Add text as needed.
