I have an Infocus 7205 connected via DVI>hdmi to my theater system reciever. AppleTV 2 set up screen is distorted and jumpy/unreadable. I set up the ATV on a different monitor (LCD) and all worked well. Re-connected to my theater/projector and same problem. Is there a problem with the dvi>hdmi adapter? Cable TV looks great,but cannot get ATV up on the screen. I have the correct input selected, etc. Any thoughts?

Does your projector support 720p, don't forget DVI is not officially supported.
The 7205 does support 720p. I do have the dvi connection with a dvi>hdmi adpater to the reciever tho. How would that not be supported?
(At some point turn off your projector)
Go into the setting on your AppleTV ans set resolution to 720 (not AUTO)
then
unplug the power cable to the AppleTV
wait 30 seconds
then
Plug the power cable back into the Apple TV
then
wait 60 seconds
then
Turn your projector back on
Let us know if that works

DVI is not HDMI without the audio. It may not support HDCP, it doesn't support component video nor does it support CEC amongst others. DVI is not listed amongst the requirements for the Apple TV.

Does ATV3 simultenously output audio from HDMI and Toslink or do I need to toggle between the two?
They output simultaneously. There are no settings on the Apple TV to switch between outputs.
