My Mail 2.1.3 quit working. It won't accept a password I know is right.

I have a Dual 2ghz PowerPC G5. I'm positive the password is correct because I enter it all the time in my other mac hardware/applications. I tried deleting the mail account them re-adding it, it still rejects my password. I can't update any of my software (nothing is available). I've tried restarting the computer.

Safari still works. All my other apps still work. I selected PowerMac as the product on the pulldown menu, I hope that's the same as PowerPC. My OS is 10.4.11


Anyone have any ideas?

I think they're slowing nudging people to the fact that MobilMe & .mac is going away shortly in favor of iCloudinees! 😟

Get an iCloud account first.

MobileMe & dot Mac will still work last I heard.

iCloud Mail setup, even in 10.4/10.5…

Don't delete your old account yet. Just setup a new one in Mail>Preferences>Accounts, little plus icon. Choose IMAP as account type, not ,mac or MobileMe.

IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:

  • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 993
  • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
  • Password: Your iCloud password

SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:

  • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
  • SSL Required: Yes
  • Port: 587
  • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
  • Username: example@me.com (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
  • Password: Your iCloud password
