The App "pages" not compatible with Word Docs?

I have purchase the App Pages and seemed to be having lots of problems. I cannot open files without it being Read Only. My instructor sends me assignements through his PC and I cannot open it to copy it. I am transcribing his email to a Pages Doc. When I am saving it...it saves under a pages doc that no one can open. I have tried saving it with the .doc or .docx at the end and get the same problem. Is this the wrong program to use or am I missing something...

Try going to File > Export and choosing Word or PDF.

No point multiple posting the same issue.

You can go to Help for most of these answers or simply look down the obvious menus.

I strongly advise that you first save the document in the .pages format before you export it to Word. That is the default Pages format. To learn more about Pages you can download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu. I find the User Guide netter then the help in the Help menu.
