Thumbnails on RAW files in OS X 10.6.8

I recently bought a Canon s100 camera. When I shoot in RAW mode I cannot see the thumbnails in my finder. Just blank icons. I try to update but with no luck. I use Mac OS X 10.6.8. Can anyone help?

First, make sure that in View Options for the folder containing the image files (or the Desktop, if that's hwere they are) the option "Show icon preview" is checkmarked.

If you need to change that and doing so does not fix the issue, then do a Get Info on one of the image files. In the Get Info screen, click on the icon in the upper left to select it. Then go to the Edit menu in the main toolbar - if the "Cut" item is not grayed out, select it.

Thanks for your reply. But the RAW files from my older canon (5D mkI) will show as a thumbnail and the newer RAW files are just an icon saying CR2. In the get info it says canon camera raw file but it seems it just can't handle it becouse it doesn't support this newer RAW format. What can I do?

Is Apple trying to coerce me into upgrading an OS (10.6.8) to something I have looked at and don't want?

I like SnowLeopard.

Come on, how hard can it be to add a new Canon camera RAW definition to show thumbnails in the 10.6.8 finder.

I think I need to get a copy of...

System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle/Contents/Resources/Raw.plist

and replace mine to see RAW thumbnails.

This list includes RAW file defination for Canon 5D MkIII.

Does this exist apart from Mountain Lion OS?

I can view my 5D Mark III files on the most current versionof Lion, but the update doesn't work on my other computer running the current version of Snow Leopard.
