Running Pages 09 on iMac with OS x 10.7.3 and everything fully up to date. Have looked through the many similar posts and don't think I have made any silly mistakes here, I have selected a new blank word processing document (not a page layout) but still cannot find anyway to type onto the page or copy text into it. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong please?

What usually happens is we just "think" we've opened the Word Processing template. They look the same in the template chooser, but they're in a different category of the template list.

Or you have a only got a demo version of Pages and the 30 day try out period has expired.

Thanks for replies but let me clarify. I purchased and paid for Pages from the App store so its a full version not a demo. When I start Pages I go File; New; and the from the Word Processing list I select Blank and then click Choose. This opens a new window with Untitled at the top but I cannot type into this or Paste any text copied from elsewhere.
I am selecting from the Word Processing list that appears above the Page Layout list.
Hmmm. never had this before.
What version of Pages '09? You have updated?

Its Pages v4.1 build 923. It has to be something silly, I am new to Pages but in opening a new document there isn't really much scope to get it wrong is there. Very frustrating!
Possibilities are a bad font or damaged prefs file.
Have you tried opening it from another User Account?

Problem solved but I'm sure that's not how Apple designed it to work but work it does! I re-started and logged in as the Guest user, did a bit of browsing in Safari and then restarted again with my usual login, started Pages and opened a new Word processing document and the cursor is instantly there blinking on the page and I can type again. Thanks for your suggestion PeterBreis0807, you solved my problem. Am I supposed to report this sort of thing to Apple or do they automatically pull back stats from my iMac? Thanks again.

I think that situation falls into the "stuff" happens category. A simple computer Restart would probably have solved the problem too, in this case. Alpha particles from space, a momentary glitch of some sort, hard to say what it was, but these things do happen.
