text gaps at the top of a column

I am experiencing a problem with a pages 1.0.2 document. It's a large poster, 52 by 44 inches, with 4 equal width columns of text. Each column is about 11 inches wide. The first line of text at the top of the third column always appears indented by about 4 inches; then there is about 2 inches of text, then a gap of about 3 inches, then the text continues to the right side of the column. The bit of text in the first 2 inch bit will auto-hyphenate if necessary.

This affects only the first line of this column; it doesn't matter what font size I use, the width of the two segments of text remains the same. Subsequent lines of this column and all the lines of other columns flow normally, as left-justified text.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Any fixes? Thank you for any help!

I'd be glad to look at it for you. Click on my name in blue next to this post & you can find my public e-mail address in the biography section of my profile.

I had a similar situation with a Pages document over the last couple of days. One line in a series of centered single-line paragraphs was shifted to the right. There were no tabs & the settings were the same as the others. I finally moved the right margin over to visually center it. Today I was again working with this file & decided to change the fonts. Now, that line lines up correctly when the margin is set like the others. I have no idea what caused it & the only change I made was the font.
