How to sync iPhone 4 with iTunes on new Win7-64 PC?

I purchased a new Win7-64bit PC. Am unable to get iTunes to sync with my iPhone 4. iTunes recognizes iPhone. Sync starts, step 1, then step 2, then message that appears only for a second that says something about "Waiting for changes to be applied." I have re-authorized iTunes. Backed up iPhone.
