How do I get my stranded itunes songs back onto my ipad

I've got about 80 songs stranded on my pc in itunes. I can't get them to sync to my ipad. Apparently they are associated with an id that I can't get to. The internet address is long defunct, so when I try to get the forgotten password, it is sent to an email that hasn't existed for more than five years. I don't understnad how this could have happened because I've had the ipad for only 22 months. Anyway, how can I get the songs to sync back to the ipad? There has to be some way to over-ride the id.

iPad, iOS 5.1

So you created a new AppleID at some point and now have two? 😟

Then don't have it sent to an email. Amswer the security questions.

Answering the security questions failed. I provided the right answers, but they seem to have tried to send my info at the non-existent address. Additionally. Apple claims I have an id that never existed during the time I've been using the iPad. I don't know where the got it -- it'd have to be more than five years old, which is before ipads existed. I'm completely stumped by this.
