can you download songs from a computer that your i-pod is not enabled to?
My old computer failed on me and i got a new computer but i cant download any of the songs i got

You must copy everything that is currently on the iPod to your new iTunes library first. Once you have successfully done that, you can go ahead and restore the iPod to associate it with the new iTunes library.
