Will apps be available for ATV 3?

I recently bought ATV 3 which comes preinstalled with a variety of apps.

Being in Australia, a number of those apps (WSJ for instance) were not particularly relevant.

In addition there are some very good apps that seem to fit the ATV 3 model quite well that are not preinstalled such as ABC iView.

Whilst ABC iView supports AirPlay it does require an iPad for this. It would be far better to be able to install the iView app on ATV 3 (UI considerations notwithstanding).

Is Apple considering how to improve the app experience for ATV 3 native, or is the intention to drive AirPlay as the interface and assume purchasers have iPad at their disposal?

As this is a user community I thought perhaps someone in the community might have already asked the same or similar question of Apple and received a response.

Unfortunately Apple do not announce new features before they are available. Of note though, Steve Jobs did once say in an interview that apps on the Apple TV were a possibility.
