Yes. I guess I should read a Mac for dummies book :/

Go up to the Apple symbol in the top left of your menu and go to About This Mac and see if your computer meets these specs for Lion

General requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
  • 2GB of memory
  • OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
  • 7GB of available space
  • Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
  • Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

I did what you suggestioned, and it asked me to sign into our wireless network, and I had to hit enter to start the computer back up with Mac Os x.

I really appreciate your help, sorry that I am not understanding this/giving you a headache.

Did it give you the option to go into the Recovery Partition?

I'm presuming that you are trying to reinstall Lion. Is this correct?

No, the only option was choosing the network, typing in the password, then selecting the macintosh hd mac os x start up.

I paid the $30 to upgrade to Lion, i keep getting the recovery error.

So when you boot up and you hold down the Command+R key you don't get into the recovery partition of the hard drive?

If you don't see the recovery partition then you may have deleted that partition somehow.

If that is the case you are going to need to get someone to make a recovery USB flash stick that has all the files on it that the recovery partition usually contains. With that you can boot the computer, WIPE the drive and re-install Lion. Other than that, I am really out of ideas here.

Are you trying to update from Snow Leopard to Lion? Or have you had Lion installed before this problem, just to be clear.
