Mail receiving problem

Hello,

Has anyone a problem with receiving e-mails? Sending e-mail works but receiving not. I have this problem since yesterday.

You can mail me at alex dot dennis at ymail (not gmail) dot com while this is being resolved. Things in common:

Started early May

Intermittent

On old account (.mac to MobileMe to iCloud)

On all devices and web interface

Not sender-specific: some emails from sender appear, others don't

Can be made to appear on emails sent to self

Occurs whether mail sent to .mac or .me alias

I am having the same problem and the iCloud team are looking into it. This seems to be a server-side problem where some emails come through and others don't – difficult to find out what the problem is as emails from the same account sometimes come through, sometimes don't. It's been three weeks now.

Anyone else having this problem? If it's more widespread I can let the engineers know.

Best wishes

Are emails coming through to the iCloud web mail interface? If not you've got the same problem as me (still being investigated). Reply here and I'll pass this information on to the person dealing with my case to see if this will help get the problem resolved. Mine started early May I think.

Okay. The guy who's dealing with this doesn't work weekends but I'll drop him an email and get him to look at this thread and the other one if that's okay with you. If there are two or three of us who've noticed this, and posted on the discussions site, I'm guessing there are others affected. Perhaps there is something in common between our accounts that will allow them to determine what the problem is. Email me or contact me through here if you'd rather I didn't pass this information on to the technicians.

All best

I've had an email from the person dealing with my issue and apparently it's affecting others as well. Could you drop an email to Sean at MobileMeSupport@apple.com, mentioning Alex Dennis (alex dot dennis at mac dot com) and the follow-up code 205416428 please? He'll be expecting to hear from you.

All best wishes

I just discovered this problem as well. Emails sent to me back in May and in June never arrived, sometimes multiple emails weeks apart. And yet some emails from the same parties do arrive. I ported my MobileMe email over to iCloud back when it came out, and that MobileMe email was originally Mac mail. I still use the Mac email domain but was told by Apple support that that shouldn't make any difference. Apple support had nothing to suggest.

It looks likes we're having the same problem alright. My best guess is it started in early May. One person had sent on 5/15, another on 6/6 and then again on 6/12. Those emails have just vanished. Everyone seems to get my emails okay. As recently as yesterday I tried sending to myself and having others send and a couple emails got lost. I've looked on the web interface and they're not there either. Also have an iPhone, iPad and use the desktop app. I've not tried sending to .me, only .mac (.mac is what everyone has). Good to know that it doesn't seem to matter which is used. That was the next thing I was going to try.

I actually have a couple people working on this at Apple myself and will be happy to pass along any resolutions. One thing the tech was able to do, which you may already be aware of, is recover all the messages sent to me in the last couple months. Obviously there were a lot of messages I had already seen, but I was able to pick out a handful that had never arrived. Doesn't really solve going forward but it was a start.

I'm another user with similar problems. I am using an iMac 2007 with Apple Mail and for the past few weeks have had random emails not arriving in my inbox. As I was still receiving many emails to the email address, I didn't think there was a problem till clients starting asking me if I received their messages - oops!

I am not using iCloud for email, although I just checked my iPhone and noticed that it says it is connected to iCloud, but my computer isn't (not sure if that makes a difference) but none of the missing messages are on my iPhone either. Have now turned off iCloud mail on my iPhone and will see if that makes a difference. I have also now changed Outlook for Mac to my primary email client (not overly happy doing that) to see if it makes any difference.

As an extra point, many of my emails I was sending were taking hours (one up to 26 hours!) to be delivered. Not sure if that ties in to the problem. I don't use my .mac or .me accounts at all and no-one knows the addresses.

Any light that can be shed on this would be great, especially as it is affecting my work!

Cheers,
Marie
