g5 power mac quad reinstall mac os x 10.5

I'm preparing to re-install Mac OS X 10.5 on my Power Mac G5 Quad.

I purchased it second hand in 2009 and it didn't have original Apple disks so I purchased Mac OS X 10.5 disks from Apple.

I've been told that I'll have problems with the fans if I don't use the disk that came with the computer.

I'm doing this because one of the four cores is reporting that it's hotter (and at a slightly higher current) than the others (including the other core under the same die).

I've checked that there's no coolant leak.

Do I HAVE to use the original Apple G5 Power Mac Mac OS X Installer for the fans to work correctly? Wouldn't the full box set of Mac OS X 10.5 have all the optimised tools for the platform on which it's installed?

Garbage.

You've been told wrong.

Reinstall away, but it likely won't help the temp variation (I hope that I am wrong, but....).

Even without leaks, LCS get gummy and lose effectiveness.

I'm happy to go in an re-apply the thermal interface,

Never a bad idea with thermal compound that is over 5 years old.

do you mean that the coolant liquid is not moving in the LCS system?

Not moving well, yes.
