May 3, 2012 6:33 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,See OS X Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats
If you're camera is listed then you will be able to decode the RAW files. If it is not listed then you will not be able to.

May 3, 2012 7:18 AM in response to Frank Caggianoby Fredsson,The Nikon P7000 is in the list but is the support only in programs like iPhoto and Aperture? What I like is to see the built in thumbnail in Finder (as i can with raw files from other Nikon and Panasonic cameras).
Thanks

May 3, 2012 7:55 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,So if you Quick Preview one of thee NRW files (hightlight it and press spacebar) or open it in Preview what happens?

May 3, 2012 9:16 AM in response to Frank Caggianoby Fredsson,If I highlight a file and press spacebar the file opens in Preview and showes the picture. This works fine. But why cant I see a smal preview directly in Finder as I can for other RAW files? Is there a missing update somewhere?
Thanks
Thomas

May 3, 2012 10:40 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,If you can open and view the file with Quick Preview or Preview then you have the correct camera raw update so that isn't the issue. The file is being decoded OK.
Not sure what causes Finder to replace the generic icon with the image. I'm away from my system now will have a look later if the issue is still unresolved.

May 3, 2012 11:00 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,Just to be sure the image you posted is all from one folder correct?
Something to try in the folder open up View Options and deselect the Show icon preview. Once all the previews are reset then turn it back on.
Also what about in Cover Flow view? If you're in Cover Flow view do the images appear?

May 3, 2012 11:04 AM in response to Frank Caggianoby Fredsson,Thank you for looking into the question.
Just to be clear, I use Lightroom and different versions of Photoshop to "develop" the pictures and I have no problem there. It´s just that I sometimes use Finder when I´m trying to look for a specific picture and it would be nice if I could see already in Finder what the pictures looks like, even from my Nikon P7000.

May 3, 2012 3:04 PM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,Try moving the Finders preference file out of your Preference folder to the desktop and then restart Finder.
To get to the preference file open Finder and select Go->Go to Folder. then cut and paste the following into the text window:
~/Library/Preferences
And press Go. locate the file com.apple.finder.plist and drag it to the desktop.
Now do
Apple Menu->Force Quit select Finder and press Relaunch.
Now see if the icon previews show up.

May 4, 2012 9:12 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,Well I'm at a lost then. The file is able to be decoded by the system as evidenced by it opening in Preview, Why Finder doesn't decode it in icon mode is a mystery to me.
One last thing I'd be interested in knowing is what happens if you open the folder in column view?
Also do you have someplace on the net, a dropbox account or similar, that you could upload one of the NRW files. I'd be curious to see what happens on my machine here.

May 5, 2012 7:12 AM in response to Fredssonby Frank Caggiano,Good news and bad news (and there both the same) it works on my system.
(nice shots BTW)
It's good news because it shows that the latest OS can decode the files, bad news because with it working here I don't have anything to troubleshoot.
If you want to keep working on this here are my recommendations:
- Make sure your system is up-to-date. Run Software Update even if you're sure everyrhing is curent.
- Create a new user account on your system, log in as that user and look at these files in Finder. Does the icon show up? This will narrow it down to either something on your system or something in your account.
- In the Finder select one of the images and do a Get Info on it it show info similar to:
Note it is reporintg it as a Nikon raw image from a COOLPIX P7000. what does it show for you?
Post back after you've given those a shot.
regards
