May 3, 2012 9:34 AM in response to mtompkinsby Limnos,Please be more careful when making a post. You posted this in a forum that has nothing to do with ibooks and your question may never get answered here. ibooks haven't been made since 2005. Do you really have an ibook? Once we know exactly which computer you have we can recommend this post be moved to a forum where you will get assistance.
To get more information about your computer, go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).

May 3, 2012 9:38 AM in response to Limnosby mtompkins,I teach and that's what I have. It's an early, possibly 2001, dual USB. It has no reset button.

May 3, 2012 11:05 AM in response to mtompkinsby Ronda Wilson,Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Which exact iBook model is it?
You can choose from this list:

The 2001 models do have a reset button, but it's nearly impossible to see unless you know exactly what you're looking for.

One possibility is that the adapter is no longer working. Can you check it out with someone else's iBook to see if the adapter works with it?
