Problem with printing PDFs from Safari.

When I view a PDF in Safari it looks good. When I go to print it either the preview is totally blank or one page that I was viewing at the time previews and the print dialog box shows the additional 8 pages but they are all blank. I'm baffled. If I use Chrome and go from its interface to preview it works perfectly. Thank you for any guidance.

I have the exact same problem. In addition to not being able to print the PDF, I cannot download it. When I try to download, I get only a dialog box stating that Safari cannot export the document. This started yesterday when I tried to download one document, a state tax-form. Today I still cannot download that form, and now I cannot download an entirely different form from another source. And the problem is getting worse. This morning I downloaded one document (an IRS tax form) successfully. An hour later I had to download that document again, and this time Safari would not let me.

Firefox does not work either. Only Chrome--so far--is working.

I emptied Safari's cache, but that did not change anything.

Quit Safari.

Open the Library folder in your home folder as follows:

If running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar.

If running an older version of Mac OS X, select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar and enter “~/Library” (without the quotes) in the text box that opens.

Delete the following items from the Library folder:

Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Preferences/com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist

Preferences/QuickTime Preferences

Relaunch Safari and test.

Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:

/Library/Internet Plug-ins

From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.

If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:

~/Library/Internet Plug-ins

If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
