Hi,
I need a little help with a worm I've picked up... not sure where. I have a couple of guesses (a corrupted thumb drive or a program called TextMate or TextEdit Plus), but anywho, I can't figure out how to get rid of the stupid thing. It's called Taquito.exe and when I try emptying the trash can, I get the message that it can't be completed because it's locked.
Any thoughts? Help please. 🙂

Hold down the OPTION key while selecting Empty for the Trash. If this doesn't work then open the Terminal in your Utilities folder and paste the following command line at the prompt:
rm -rf ~/.Trash/*.exe
Press RETURN.
Thanks for the quick reply. I actually can't put the darn thing in the trash: I get the 'operation cannot be completed because the item "Taquito.exe" is locked.'
Any other thoughts?
If the file is on your Desktop then try:
In the Terminal paste:
sudo rm -rf ~/Desktop/*.exe
Press RETURN. When prompted enter your admin password which will not be echoed to the window.

Click the icon for the file. Do cmd-I from the keyboard or pull down the finder's File menu to select "Get Info" or right-click on the icon to get a menu to select "Get Info" and then uncheck the "Locked" box and see if you can trash the file.
