I transferred everything from an old iPad to a new one via iCloud. Why won't music or videos play? I don't even get thumbnails for the songs/videos, and they can't be clicked, even though everything from the old one shows up on the new one.
Is there a step I'm missing here?
Did you restore from the iCloud backup of the old iPad and you are using the same Apple ID on the iPad that all of the content was purchased with?
Yes on both fronts.
Anybody with a suggestion here? Should I download all this music again out of the cloud?
If I download from iCloud in the music store, my iPad has two versions of each song: one that works and one that can't be played, clicked, deleted, etc.
Anyone?
Have you considered wiping the iPad and starting all over again? Do you have more than one backup in iCloud!? If you do, it might be worth a shot restoring from another backup.
Perhaps that backup that you used was corrupt for whatever reason, so maybe you would have better success with another backup.
Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Can't start over again. Stuff has already been cleared off old iPad.
Literally everything but music and video transferred without a hitch. All the purchases are available in icloud, but I can't delete any of the old, grayed-out, unplayable versions. Feel like there's almost got to be some sort of setting I have wrong or something. Really starting to tick me off.
So I went by an Apple Store today and they told me they'd literally never seen this issue. They had me back up to iCloud, wipe and restore. Now that I've done that, the grayed-out versions of songs disappeared, but so did the rest of my music. So now, I guess can go back in and download from iCloud or move songs over from my computer on iTunes, but the stuff I wanted to have on my iPad is no longer there, so I have to put it there manually.
Oh, and a ton of my apps are missing. I am furious.
