Can you transfer FCP 7 files to FCE?

My teacher asked me this because Im working with FCE and he FCP 7, and he wants to transfer files so I can work on the same stuff. We want to do this, because I have FCE on my laptop and he has FCP 7 on a desktop and we can't bring that on the trip we are going on, so he wants to transfer the FCP 7 files from the desktop to my laptop. Will I be able to use the files in FCE?
