I spilled water on my iPad last night. I let it dry out overnight. This morning I used my iPad and everything works except the sound. I had sound for about 5 seconds on one app. The sound doesn't work for any apps. Can the sound be fixed? If so, how can I fix sound? Thanks!

I'll second using rice. This is a common fix for cameras that have been exposed to too much moisture. The rice absorbs water quickly from the air and this draws water from the device. I suggest using instant rice. Put the rice in a ziplock bag large enough to also hold your iPad. Put the iPad in the bag, zip it shut and leave it there for 24 hours. If the iPad still not not work properly after the first 24 hours do it again with fresh rice. If it still does not work after 3 cycles in the bag then it's time to visit an Apple store.

Surface water shouldn't be that much of an issue. BUt if it gets inside then it can be a problem.
There is the 'bury it in rice' trick. Where you immerse the device in dry rice, changing it every day. Give it a few days and see if it helps. THe rice wicks the water out of the device.
The water doesn't hurt the device as much as the damage caused by the short circuits the water causes. Unfortunately, now that you've turned it on the damage might be done.
Most of the water was on the outside but I suspect a little got inside. I spilled a glass water last night on the table the iPad was laying on. I dried the outside very quickly and was gently shaking it to try to remove water from inside. I didn't have it on for very long this morning but now when I try to turn it off it will not stay off. I am going to try the rice trick and see if that helps.Is it true about the water indicators inside? Can you see one of them from the headjack hole with a bright light?
