Is this an Apple keyboard or Windows keyboard?

system profiler.

the blue Apple icon > About this Mac > More info...

goto the hardware section. Scroll down and click on USB

This will give you the name of the keyboard.

Did this keypad work before?

Does the keypad work with your web browser?

On some windows keyboards there is a num lock key. Might Be set wrong.

Don't reach the iMac now - But it is the Apple Standard Key-board delivered with it.

Yes it use to work

Most certainly it's a setting in Excel that gone wrong - Any one familiar with settings in Excel ?

Changing Key-board in System settings Swed to Swed Pro or whatever do not help.

Nor does changing to Mac OS 9 and MS-Excel version working here

Nor using Mac OS X.5.? and MS-Excel 2011

From the info you gave, seems like a bad keyboard.

Just tried excel 2004. Both sets of numbers results in numbers in excel.

Need to verify that the numeric keypad works in other applications.

Could be some keyboard remapping program intercepting & changing keys.

This is an iMac. Maybe OS got confused over what keyboard you have.

You looked in system preferences on keyboard & mouse. There are two tabs on keyboard. See applications keyboard preferences.

perhaps a preference got messed up.

So define a new user and see if problem occurs there. System preferences > Users > + to add users

check out.

Thank You for trying - although choise of forum is far from 100%

Yes the number key"pad" works very well in all other applications I got. So problem is isolated to MS Excel and it was a long shoot to put the Q:

No a new User Account - don't help either.

My thought was that someone randomly had stumbled into this problem too and figured it out.

But thank You for all Your trying.
