Thanks Appleman,

Yes it does support this camera, in a fashion, although not in 1080-50p (their numbers ) although you state 60p

50p- 60p still does not fully support this camera, which I queried before purchase, from both Apple agent, and Sony sales.

I guess I'll have to read the manual again, to see exactly what I should record in to enable me to transfer video into OS X Lion and i-movie.

For what reason does it not support the queried quality, and has it got any plans to do so in the near future ?

This is a user to user forum, so nobody here knows what Apple might do in the future.

Final Cut Pro X already supports 50P/60P, but it will not import directly from camera. But if you have a 50P or 60P QuickTime file, you can edit it.

Here is a blog post of how to edit 50P in iMovie. I have not personally tried it. http://ianperegian.com/My_FZ35_38_Webpage/Edit_1080_50p_and_burn_a_disk.html
