Why does it say my SIM is invalid when I hit view account?

I am trying to set up my mobile Internet account. When I go to settings, cellular data, and then view account, it says my SIM is invalid and won't le t me continue. Am I doing something wrong, or is my iPad not working right?

iPad, iOS 5.1
