How do I stop itunes from corrupting it's library on almost a daily basis?

I would create a new library.itl file and redownload all of your purchases from the iTunes Store. Sounds like the back up you have seems to be the problem.

Just download the ones you need the most. As time goes by you'll have them all downloaded.

It is likely something particular to your setup. I only see a post about a corrupt database every few weeks and then it is a once-off thing. If you tell us more about your setup then it would help. For example, 2000 apps sounds like an huge number. How large is your database altogether? If it is huge and you keep it on an external drive then it could be a networking or connection issue.

I know you don't want to do this but I would create a brand new library and add items already on your computer to that. It is possible the your library and the backups you are using are corrupt. This is the only way to ensure that if this continues that it is not the library itself. Conceivably it could be one of the files introducing something into the library that is causing the issue but take it a step at a time.

I have a bigger library than you, though I do not have a single app. 2000 apps is more than 10x all the applications I have on my computer, and my computer is designed to handle more than your idevice. I should also add I have never in 10 years of iTunes, and predecessor, had a corrupt library.

Fine, up to you. Still, it's like saying a Toyota makes a substandard Corolla model because one tire on one particular vehicle has a hole and repeatedly goes flat. Ignoring it won't fix it.

Have you run Disk Utility to verify your hard drive? Perhaps this is just the tip of an iceberg.

By the way, creating a new library does not mean you have to download everything again. You just create a new library file and add things to that. Still, if there's something in one of those many apps of yours that is adding a strange character into the iTunes library and corrupting it then the only way you are going to discover that is by a very slow process of adding items one by one and testing until you find the problem.

Start iTunes and immediately hold down the option key. Create a new library somewhere. Go to your old iTunes folder and drag items to the window for the new library. Maybe only grab a folder or part of one at a time. It will copy these items to the new library (so you need lots of extra room on your computer).

Again, it must be something particular to your computer setup or the files you are using. If you have any external drives involved then it could be a communications error, especially if they are not Mac format. I have over 20,000 items in my iTunes library and have never once in over 10 years of using iTunes had a corrupt library.

I don't have Japanese characters. It is conceivable they could be presenting a problem, though I am sure Apple distributes iTunes in Asian countries and iTunes should be able to handle other font characters. I do have European accented characters and iTunes does not choke on them.
