Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I need to look for:
7200 RPM
Firewire or eSATA
eSATA and Firewire 800 will be fast drives and a lot more accessible for most users than Thunderbolt.

For final delivery, you are looking for getting a drive with connectivity options. The drive might end up in the hands of someone who doesn't have firewire or eSATA...then what? USB. Get a quad interface drive from OWC...USB, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, eSATA. Bases covered.
