Old T2i/T3i plist hack not working with latest version of Canon EOS Plugin - any ideas why?

Hello all-

Running FCP 7.0.3 on duo quad core Mac Pro, 10.6.7 OS.

So recently downloaded latest Canon EOS Plugin E1 for FCP - 1.3 version, http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_5d_mark_ii#D riversAndSoftware - in order to bring in 5D mark iii files thru FCP's Log & Transfer tool. That works - just barely - but now I can't bring in T2i & T3i files thru L&T. So tried my old plist hack - http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/canon-eos-60d-rebel-t2i-eos-550d-hd/475295-canon-eos -final-cut-plugin-will-work-t2i.html - but still wouldn't recognize files in L&T. Big Bummer. Is it just a question of where I put the T2i/3i info in the plist doc? Or something bigger? Still hoping to use L&T in my workflow, esp cuz it generates time code and is a great batch naming tool. Please let me know if you've got any ideas.

Thanks, Nick.

What exactly did you write in the .plist file? T2i or 550D? You might want to try both versions. Also make sure the syntax structure of the file remains exactly the same (copy/paste of a segment might be helpful here. Some people have reported that you need to trash FCP prefs in order to get it to work.

FWIW, working fine here with 600D in FCP 7.0.3.

Thanks mishmuken.

Basically followed the instructions in the last posting at the bottom this page -

http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-475295.html

Wrote in T2i & T3i (not 550D or 600D.) Unfortunately not at my FCP work station at the moment so can't show you exactly how I revised the plist document but was very careful to follow syntax/structure.

Think it may be a question of order? Seems like just adding to the bottom of the document makes the most sense.

Also, did try trashing my FCP preferences but couldn't do it per what's here -

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2207

But can't seem to find that com.apple.FinalCutExpress.plist document.

So you're able to L&T transcode 600D/T3i files with the new/1.3 version of the EOS Plug-in?

Doesn't seem to be a question of order here. But try 500/600D instead of t2/3i and see if that helps.

If you have trouble trashin preferences try this: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/

Yup, working fine here.

Thanks for sticking with me.

But Feeling like a Canon-FCP victim here.

Revised the plist with 550/600 text and scrapped preferences - using that digital rebellion app, thanks - and still getting same "unsupported media" error when attempting to bring in T2i/T3i media thru L&T. Plugged T2i/T3i text back into plist, trashed preferences, and still not working.

But seems like you've proven that this workflow can work with 1.3 version EOS plug-in.

Wondering what the discrepancy is?

Nick.
